Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its latest performance car which seems to have taken its source from an inspirational meme, as it is the only AMG that currently offers "110 percent".

The new Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and 53 have been released

High-powered electric cars

Dual engine, 4 wheel drive

Between 476hp and 678hp

0-62mph speed barrels in 3.3 seconds

Range up to 331 miles

Mercedes EQE price Can cost over £ 100,000

This is the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC +, a long-winded way to describe something that requires two words: an electric supersaloon. One of these AMG hyperdrives with the 'Dynamic Plus Package' is an alternative, knock it out in 'Race Start' mode with 'Boost Function', and you're looking at 678bhp and 0-62mph speed barrels in 3.3 seconds. Just like the Audi RS E-Tron GT.

After all, AMG's USP has always been a fire-breathing V8, and yet the company has embraced the move to the fullest. Not least because the new EQE 53+ - and lower EQE 43 siblings 469bhp - are both equipped with four-wheel-drive.

There is a pair of electric motors - one on each axle - mounted on EQE's 'EVA2' platform, specifically tailored to AMG requirements. The rear motor gets a six-phase design, and we're sure both feature a "highly resilient thermal concept" that allows for repeated flat-out buffoonery.

These two are powered by EQE's 90.6kWh motor, which gets a certain output depending on the drive mode you choose. For example, ‘Slippery’ and ‘Comfort’ limit the output to 50 and 80 percent, respectively, while ‘Sport’ gets 90 percent power, whereas only ‘Sport +’ and ‘Race Start’ benefit from a full 100 percent. With all the trimming, 'Race Start' will definitely get 110 percent.

As mentioned, the 53+ with a dynamic pack will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds, while the regular 53 will do it in 3.5 seconds. The entry-level AMG EQE 43 needs to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds. Top speed? Just below 130mph for 43, 136mph for 53, and just 150mph for 53 with goodies.

The EQE AMG receives AMG-specific wheel carriers, suspension links, and rigid anti-roll bars, as well as AMG's adaptive damping. By the way, AMG says that this setup is very similar to the setup of AMG EQS and AMG GT four-door coupe. The dampers themselves are tuned for better ride comfort and drive-it-on-the-door-handle mobility. Both cars get rear-axle steering.

Break? There are some, and they are huge. 415mm / 378mm disc front and rear, AMG offers larger ceramics as an alternative. There is an 'i-booster' which is not an iPhone charger but a system that blends hydraulics and electrical recovery better.

Probably won't sound like a proper AMG, at least you're not used to it. Like the big brother AMG EQS, Quick EQE pumps artificial sound, although promising the traditional AMG sound in the "authentic" noise setting.

Architecturally speaking, EQE's body is AMGified with a new black panel grille, a body-colored front bumper, a new front apron and splitter, new seals, a new rear diffuser, and apron, and AMG light-alloy wheels. Of course, everything has been optimized for RANGE.
